Your body just installed a massive software update...
Actually, it is still installing it. Puberty is not one big change that happens overnight. Different parts of you can change at different times, in different orders and at different speeds. This app helps you see what your body is doing without turning growing up into a checklist.
Growing Up updateNew body settings, brain changes, hormones, periods, skin, hair and a lot of background activity.
There is no universal install schedule. Your version can look different from your friends and still be completely normal.
Explore your update
Girl first rule: this is information, not a checklist. Bodies do not all update in the same order, at the same age or at the same speed.

Your Timeline
Everybody's timeline looks different.
These are things that some girls notice at some ages. They are examples, not deadlines.
Slide through ages 9 to 18Age 9
Growth begins
Important: there is no right order and no right time. Your body is not late, early or behind just because it does not match somebody else's timeline.

How bodies change.
Open one section at a time. Nothing here is a list of things you have to look like or feel like.
- Oil glands can become more active, which sometimes leads to spots.
- Skin might feel oilier or drier than it used to.
- Spots can appear on the face, chest or back. This is extremely common.
- None of this is about being clean. It is just hormones.
π Girl Talk Translation: Your skin settings can suddenly change even if your routine has not. A spot is not a cleanliness score.
- Hair can start growing in new places, like underarms and legs.
- The hair on your head may feel oilier and need washing more often.
- Body hair can be any colour, thickness or amount. All are completely normal.
- Removing hair or not is a personal choice, not a requirement.
π Girl Talk Translation: New hair is a body update, not a beauty instruction. Keep it, remove it, change nothing. It is your call.
- Bones can grow quickly during growth spurts.
- Aches sometimes called growing pains are common and usually nothing to worry about.
- Bones keep getting stronger and denser all through the teenage years.
- Growth happens at its own pace. There is no right speed.
π Girl Talk Translation: Sometimes your actual frame is growing faster than the rest of you can get used to. Feeling suddenly taller or awkward can simply be part of the update.
- Hormones can trigger breast tissue to start developing.
- Hips may gradually widen as the pelvis develops.
- Hormones are also behind mood changes and periods starting.
- Every body responds to hormones differently.
π Girl Talk Translation: Hormones are messages. They can tell different body parts that it is time to start changing, but every body reads those notifications a little differently.
- Feelings can feel bigger and more intense than before.
- Your brain is still developing, especially the part that manages emotions.
- It is normal to feel more sensitive, or to have mood swings.
- Talking to someone you trust can help when feelings feel like a lot.
π Girl Talk Translation: The volume dial on feelings can get louder while your brain is still learning how to manage everything coming in. Bigger does not mean fake.
